Packing for your trip to Argentina
It is time to think about what you will need for your hunting trip. You can take a look at the temperature chart for both lodges if you want. Even though there is a rainy season, we always recommend bringing a light rain jacket. Make sure you have your passport in order and visa or reciprocity fee, if required. You can always let us know if you have any doubts on what to bring. Here are some tips on things you will need.
-
Passport
Make sure your passport is current and that your name on your international ticket matches your name on your passport exactly. -
Guns
Most hunters prefer to bring their own guns to Argentina. A limited number of rental guns are available, but what better opportunity to exercise that favorite gun or shoot several guns of different types and gauges on the same day.
Each hunter, 21 and older, may bring 4 shotguns for the hunt. Guns must be registered in the United States or home country and then some paperwork must be completed, but this will be taken care of by the outfitter or the Lodge prior to your departure. Over/under or side by side are the best for Argentina. Automatics are OK, but with lower power ammo and a lot of shooting, some will not stand up as well as an over/under or side by side. 12, 16, 20, 28 or 410 gauge ammunition can be available in unlimited quantities at $12-14 a box (2019 price). Please confirm in advance for 16/28/410 gauges. You may shoot as little or as much as you like. -
Eye protection
Good quality shooting glasses or sun glasses are a real necessity. -
Ear protection
Anything from .99 foam earplugs to $2,500 custom digital but make sure you have something. -
Shoulder pad
These are as much for the abrasion of mounting the gun several thousand times as they are for recoil. -
Gun pads
Same as shoulder pads. Remember, unless you were an Olympic shooter or you have been to Argentina before you will have never shot this much in your life. -
Light shooting gloves
The gloves will be very useful when the barrel of your gun gets hot from high volume shooting and for loading your shotgun. -
Lightweight wader
Only for duck hunting. -
Lightweight boots
Waterproof or water-resistant would be best. -
Camo jacket or shell
Mainly for duck hunting.
