Giving back at Argentina’s Best Hunting
While enjoying the great hunting experiences here in Argentina, many hunters have had the opportunity to reflect on the physical and financial blessings that have allowed them to come here and spend a few memorable days doing what only a few have ever been privileged to do.
Some have asked if there is some way they could give something back to the local community. Our answer is that Estancia Cortaderas also feels it is important to give something back and we are proud to support the Charity Father Henry Williams started in his efforts of working with poor and orphaned children in the nearby village of Hernandarias and that now is runned by Sister Maria Lujan and Sister Alicia.
.
“Hogar Santa Cecilia” the orphanage runned by Sister Ma. Lujan, houses a dozen children, between 2 and 9 years old; currently there are 7 boys and 5 girls, who are in the process of adoption, some of them are brothers and sisters, the condition is to adopt them together and not separate their bond of brotherhood. At the orphanage they have all meals, and many activities such as schooling, soccer, dance, chess, and other some other activities which can be performed by them, always with the help of donations that they receive from the neighborhood as well and from a government sector.
Father Henry created a parochial school for underprivileged kids and, like the orphanage, everything was built with donations and help from residents, organizations, visitors, who want and can collaborate, no matter how small, for them it is a lot.
Estancia Cortaderas supports Hogar Santa Cecilia by giving the majority of the game birds to the school and orphanage. Also helps by making cash donations which is given generously by the hunters and guests staying at Estancia Cortaderas and which is handed to Sister Ma. Lujan. Any hunter that would like to help to give back in this way to make a contribution to her work. Not long ago, Sister Ma. Lujan opened a bank account for those who would like to help with the orphanage and school.
Many hunters staying at Estancia Cortaderas have visited them, it is only about two miles from the Lodge and have enjoyed meeting and seeing what they do for the kids there. A few U.S. dollars go a long way for these kids.
