Hunting with the family at Estancia Cortaderas
This year in April, we received first contact from Mr. Rogers, who wanted to visit Estancia Cortaderas with his family, most of them shooters and some non-shooters. This type of family trips, are something we always encourage. This is something we really work hard for, as hunting lodges are usually thought only for hunters. Well, this is one of the areas were we try to make a difference and we really hope we are doing a good job.
The Rogers family came in mid-June, a group of 6 composed by Steve (father), Anne (mother), their three sons Pratt, John and Thomas and last but not least Annie, the daughter.
The visit to hunt in Argentina started in Buenos Aires, where Sandra (guide and translator) met them at the International Airport and helped them with the transfer to the hotel that was already been reserved by our travel agency in advance. With Sandra they had the chance to get an idea on how many things Buenos Aires has to offer and they even were able to arrange a city tour to get a glimpse of this beautiful city. This way, they were set for a 2 night stay at the Capital city of Argentina and rest to get ready for a great hunting adventure at Estancia Cortaderas.
After 2 nights in Buenos Aires, early in the morning Sandra had already arranged the pick-up time to go to the domestic airport to take the flight to Santa Fe. After 1 hour flight, the Rogers family was greeted by Cortadera’s Manager Paul James and Head Guide Omar Borghello.
This is a group who really enjoyed the hunting, they had great fun with the partridge hunts and were happy with it and more than pleased with the number of birds. The dove hunts were very good, this type of hunt is always a hit and the duck hunts were up to the limits. And yes, this is what we really like to deliver… great hunting experiences!
The group went also pigeon shooting and even Dorado fishing, so we can say they really did a full Mixed Bag at Cortaderas. They had the privilege to fish the Parana River, a place that offers very special scenery for fishing, with a landscape not usual to see, parting from the cliff where Cortaderas was built and from there to the islands and innumerable areas of this enormous and beautiful river. The Dorado fishing is great fun and something worth to try if you enjoy a fish that gives a good fight, no matter what type of fishing you decide to do.
The family had 5 full days of hunting and fishing, mixing doves, ducks, partridges, pigeons and Dorado fishing in an incredible itinerary tailor made just for them and just like for every guest that visits us. All this was blended with Chef Sebastian’s great gourmet meals every day and of course the Malbec wines were not missing, as this is our signature wine in Argentina.
But the 5 days went fast and the trip at Cortaderas came to an end, although it wasn’t the end of the trip for the group. They flew back to Buenos Aires where they stayed one more night, but this time at a different area of the city, they chose Palermo Soho for the last night where you will find great restaurants and more nightlife.
It has been a pleasure to have such a nice family visit us at Estancia Cortaderas. Anne, Steve you have great kids you really have done a great job and we have enjoyed meeting you all. These great moments are the ones that makes us improve year after year.
Our family of six (children ages 13- 20) spent 6 days at Estancia Cortaderas and it was wonderful. Prior to arrival Micaela (Mica) arranged all local travel very efficiently, including hotels and the transfers in BA which can be difficult since the domestic airport is different from International airport. Upon arrival in Sante Fe, Paul James and Omar met us and graciously attended to all of our needs for the rest of the stay.
The hunting was great. The high volume dove was superb and ducks were plentiful. We were particularly pleased with the Perdiz hunting because we had heard it was hit or miss at other lodges in Argentina (was a hit with Cortaderas). The bird boys and guides were first class, professional, and friendly.
The food, prepared many evenings over open fires, was world class. Chef Sebastian’s meals were exceptional and everyone was very service oriented. Each meal was complimented with wonderful Argentinian wines (the Malbecs were out of this world). The accomodations were exceptional….spacious, clean, with beautiful views of the Parana River. The grounds were immaculately maintained and lunch was often served on the River looking over the grounds.
The variety of game offered was a real treat: dove, ducks, Perdiz, pigeons, and even parakeets. The fishing was great fun for all and the Parana River was beautiful.
We had a great time and the whole family enjoyed the trip, and hope to return in the very near future!
Sincerely,
The Rogers Family
Steve, Anne, Pratt, John, Thomas and Annie
We would love to welcome you back at Estancia Cortaderas for some more hunting adventures. Until next time!
